Tales From A Sea Journey - NIE Theatre Company

NIE Theatre Company bring spellbinding stories from the world’s saltiest stage with Tales from a Sea Journey, which recently won 'Best Show' at the Tiba Theatre Festival in Belgrade.

Using a mix of storytelling, physical theatre, live music, multiple languages and a European ensemble, the show explores the pull and power of the sea from both an epic and personal perspective.

In November 2009, 8 performers from the company embarked on a 3500 mile transatlantic voyage aboard a cargo ship bound for Guadeloupe. This experience is told alongside seafaring myths and shanties from across the world in a whirlwind 65 minutes. Sail with a Second World War naval officer in the Indian Ocean and discover the story of Ella, the first ever Norwegian female trawlerwoman.
