BROMSGROVE SCHOOL presents THE THREEPENNY OPERA
by BETHOLD BRECHT and Kurt Weill

Written in 1928 and based on John Gay's 18th century 'Beggars' Opera', written to satirise the classical opera of that time, Brecht used the idea once again to satirise the ruling classes and politics of 1920s Germany.

On the seedy streets of early Victorian London. Peachum and his band of beggars try to make an 'honest' living, trading in 'human suffering and misery', in a society where only the rich can afford to be honest ... or are they?
