Licensed to Rhyme
Artrix has teamed up with former Birmingham Poet Laureate Giovanni ‘Spoz’ Esposito and Worcestershire Poet Laureate Maggie Doyle to host Licensed to Rhyme – a brand new open mic and spoken word event scheduled to take off in September.
Special guest artist Dreadlockedalien is the first of many special guests to mark the launch event next month. There will also be a number of other talents and nine open mic slots of five minutes each.
Spoz said: ‘We thought having such a night in Bromsgrove was long overdue – especially since it has such a strong connection with poetry and the likes of A.E Houseman.
‘We welcome all styles of poetry and music from rap to Shakespeare and are keen to give an outlet to all the amazing young people in and around Bromsgrove, Rubery and Worcestershire in general.’
Maggie added: ‘But it’s not just for the youngsters – it’s for all ages. You can come and read or perform your own poems, or cover some of your favourite poets and musicians.’
‘We would like to thank Artrix for their support, and look forward to Licensed to Rhyme becoming a firm fixture at the venue.’
Licensed to Rhyme begins on Monday 12th September at 7.30 pm in the Artrix Café and will take place every second Monday of the month from 7.30pm-9.30pm. Doors open at 7pm. Admission is free for under 18s and £5 for everyone else.
