Artrix Youth Theatre Juniors April - July 2017
Artrix Youth Theatre is a dynamic devising company for children and young people who love to perform or who want to learn about producing shows in a real theatre. Each term we work around a chosen theme or issue, devising original scenes, exploring physical theatre, creating characters and working together to perform. We draw our ideas from stories, plays, popular culture and the media and we use our own creativity to put them together into our performances.
Led by professional director, Mel Dykes, Artrix Youth Theatre is a full theatre experience. You won't find yourself in the back row of the chorus in our productions: everyone plays an active part in producing, performing and promoting, making props and scenery, helping plan sound and lighting and being a part of a team. We work with our members' strengths and help them to build their confidence whilst having loads of fun, making new friends and seeing how things are done in a professional theatre.
We have two age groups who perform together at the Spring and Summer presentations. The Junior Section for ages 6-9 rehearses on Tuesdays 5.30-7pm and Senior Section rehearses on Saturdays from 1.30-4pm. No experience is necessary and we are an inclusive company, welcoming everyone with an interest in theatre!
We host an Open Studio session at the end of the Autumn term to show parents and carers what we've been working on. At the end of the Spring Term we will present a 'Work in Progress' showcase of short pieces and devised work and at the end of the Summer Term we present our large-scale end of year production in the theatre.
New members can always try a 'Taster' session before joining for the full term. Please contact Artrix Box Office to arrange this.
