Yesterday 12A

with Himesh Patel, Lily James, Ed Sheeran, Kate McKinnon, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Meera Syal. 116 mins + trailers

Directed by Academy Award winner Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, Slumdog Millionaire) and scripted by Richard Curtis (Four Weddings and a Funeral), Yesterday is a wacky, winning, immensely enjoyable comedy-drama with a fantastical premise. A struggling singer-songwriter, Jack’s (newcomer Himesh Patel) fortunes are fading – despite the loving support of his best friend Ellie (Lily James) – until, after a mysterious global blackout, he realises that somehow, all record of The Beatles’ existence has been wiped out and only he remembers them. Performing songs by the greatest band in history to a world that has never heard them, Jack becomes a musical megastar overnight. But can he make it last?
