Yuli: The Carlos Acosta Story 15

with Carlos Acosta, Santiago Alfonso, Keyvin Martinez, Edlison Manuel Olbera Núñez. 111 mins + trailers

Directed by Icíar Bollaín (Take My Eyes), Yuli is the terrifically inspiring story of Cuban ballet superstar Carlos Acosta. Adapted from his autobiography No Way Home by Ken Loach collaborator Paul Laverty, it follows the young Acosta from his impoverished childhood in a working class Havana family to 17 years as a principal dancer at London’s Royal Ballet – breaking boundaries as the first black dancer to perform ballet’s most famous roles on the world’s most celebrated stages. Starring Acosta himself, this engaging and vibrant biopic is a fantastic showcase for his stunning artistry.
